Muhammad Abul Khair Chowdhury currently serves as Head of Business & Strategy at iPay Systems Ltd. As a key player in iPay, he oversees Business Development, Strategic Partnership, Product Management, Marketing and Business strategy. He also looks after Service/UX Design & Business Intelligence.
A Dhaka University (DU) business graduate with over a decade of work experience, his career started with SCB, after a very short stint, he moved to the leading Telecom operator Grameenphone where he worked more than 13 years in various positions including leadership roles before joining iPay. He is a recognized Telenor talent with fast track career path.
His expertise ranges from Banking, Telecom, MFS, Fin-Tech and related regulatory frame works. He gained experience on Greenfield operation & market entry strategy for new initiatives working at various levels for the last 15 years.
Khair is one of few pioneering professionals in the field of Digital Financial Services of Bangladesh, which started with BillPay service of Grameenphone in 2006. Later on, he demonstrated record making accomplishments for nearly 11 years, which included playing a lead role in launching GP DFS wallet brand “GPAY” as well as DFS retail brand “MobiCash”. He also worked on product design of EasyPaisa in Pakistan during its early days as a Telenor resource.He has also contributed to several Telenor group industrialization projects like single global solution (Multi-Tenant MFS Solution for both cloud & local), remittance hub & insurance rollout (Nirvoy Insurance by GP).
Khair also completed his MBA degree in “Strategic & International Management” from University of Dhaka. Additionally, through his entire professional career, has attended different types of courses and trainings in various management programs from Motorola University-Six Sigma Institution (Singapore/Malaysia), Maruma Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. (India) ESI International (India), BMGI (India), Norwegian Business School (Norway), Positivity Group (Sweden), RBL Institute (USA), IBM Transformation Team (Europe Office) and INSEAD.
He is also an active alumnus of Dhaka University business faculty and conducts visiting lectures as part of Industry-Academia initiative.
